Utrecht, – NS has introduced publicroam at its offices, (maintenance) sites and 83 stations. With this move, NS is opting for a high security standard for Wi-Fi access at locations where employees and travelers reside.

Secure wifi access for employees

Every day, thousands of NS employees work at stations and work sites. By choosing publicroam, NS ensures that employees can automatically and securely connect to Wi-Fi with their own devices. This additional Wi-Fi network offers a simple login procedure and minimal risk of digital interception or data leakage. This also keeps private devices and data safe in daily use.

Access for travelers at specific locations

In locations where travelers stay a bit longer, such as Station Houses, publicroam also offers visitors an easy and privacy-friendly way to get online. Travelers sign up once for free and then automatically connect at participating locations. Publicroam thus replaces a specific part of the existing Wi-Fi provision and is emphatically not a nationwide or ubiquitous traveler Wi-Fi.

Simple, secure and privacy-friendly

With publicroam, NS is choosing a Wi-Fi solution that meets high security standards and takes privacy by design as its starting point. Users are not tracked and do not have to leave personal information with each new location. In doing so, the solution aligns with NS’ approach to digital security and reliability in other areas of its service.

“For NS, secure digital access is first and foremost important for our employees. At the same time, we find it logical that travelers in places where they stay, such as Station Houses, can easily and securely go online. With Publicroam, we organize that in a controlled and privacy-friendly way.”

“NS makes a sober and thoughtful choice here by deploying secure Wi-Fi access where it is actually used. This is exactly in line with how Publicroam is intended: as a secure standard at public and workplaces, with privacy and ease of use as a starting point.”
