Do you not have login details yet? Request them via the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/send-me-an-sms\">registration page<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Already registered via the <strong>Publicroam app<\/strong>? You can find your login details in the app (Menu &gt; My account &gt; Login details)<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<h4>Step 2<\/h4>\n<p>Go to <strong>Network<\/strong> or <strong>Wifi settings<\/strong>. Depending on your desktop manager, the location may vary. Often you can click the wifi icon in the top right or bottom left. Then check the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Check if you are in a location where Publicroam is available<\/li>\n<li>Make sure wifi is enabled<\/li>\n<li>Turn wifi off and back on briefly<\/li>\n<li>Restart your device<\/li>\n<li>Check if airplane mode is off<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u2139\ufe0f <em>Some older wifi adapters support modern secure wifi networks less well.<\/em><\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"linux-does-not-connect\" name=\"6a237afca2367\"><summary>My Linux device does not connect to Publicroam<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Are you unable to connect to publicroam on your Linux device? Then follow the steps below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Check your login details<\/strong><br \/>\nCheck if your username and password exactly match the details in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the Publicroam app<\/li>\n<li>or the SMS<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>2. Check the wifi settings<\/strong><br \/>\nUse the following settings:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Security: <strong>WPA\/WPA2 Enterprise<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>EAP method: <strong>PEAP<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Inner authentication: <strong>MSCHAPv2<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Domain: <strong>publicroam.nl<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do NOT use publicroam.net as the domain.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Use the default wifi settings of your system<\/strong>\nOn Linux, there are different ways to manage wifi. Publicroam works best with the built-in network function of your system (the \u201cdefault wifi settings\u201d).<\/p>\n<p>So just use the wifi settings as you normally see them in your settings menu.<\/p>\n<p>Using separate tools or configurations can affect whether you can connect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Check certificates<\/strong><br \/>\nSome Linux systems ask for a certificate or public root CA.<\/p>\n<p>You can download these here:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/certificate\/\">Publicroam certificate<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sslcertificaten.nl\/files\/USERTrust_RSA_Certification_Authority.crt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USERTrust RSA Root CA certificate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then, select the file you downloaded under <strong>CA-certificate<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Still not working?<\/strong><br \/>\nFirst, remove the publicroam network from your device and set it up again.<\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"asks-for-password-again\" name=\"6a237afca2367\"><summary>My Linux device keeps asking for my password again<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Some Linux distributions keep asking for your username or password again with WPA2-Enterprise networks like Publicroam.<\/p>\n<p>This is often due to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>missing certificate settings<\/li>\n<li>a wrong EAP configuration<\/li>\n<li>or a problem with <em>NetworkManager<\/em> or <em>wpa_supplicant<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Therefore, always check:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>EAP method: <strong>PEAP<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Inner authentication: <strong>MSCHAPv2<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Domain: <strong>publicroam.nl<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Do NOT use publicroam.net as the domain.<\/p>\n<p>After that, remove the network and reconnect.<\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"asks-for-certificate\" name=\"6a237afca2367\"><summary>My Linux device asks for a certificate<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Some Linux distributions ask for a certificate or public root CA while connecting to Publicroam.<\/p>\n<p>In that case, download:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/certificate\/\">Publicroam certificate<\/a><\/li>\n<li>or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sslcertificaten.nl\/files\/USERTrust_RSA_Certification_Authority.crt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">USERTrust RSA Root CA certificate<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Then select this file under: <strong>CA-certificate<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2139\ufe0f <em>Linux uses this to check if the network is truly from Publicroam. This helps to prevent connection to fake networks.<\/em><\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"keeps-disconnecting\" name=\"6a237afca2367\"><summary>My Linux device keeps disconnecting<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Some Linux devices regularly lose connection to secure wifi networks like Publicroam.<\/p>\n<p>This is often due to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>old versions of NetworkManager<\/li>\n<li>outdated wpa_supplicant<\/li>\n<li>or incompatibility after system updates<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Try the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Fully update your system<\/li>\n<li>Restart your device<\/li>\n<li>Remove the publicroam network and reconnect<\/li>\n<li>Check if <strong>NetworkManager<\/strong> is active<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"stays-connected-without-internet\" name=\"6a237afca2367\"><summary>My Linux device stays connected without internet<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Does your device connect to publicroam, but the internet does not work? Then the connection might not be fully completed.<\/p>\n<p>Try the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Turn wifi off and back on briefly<\/li>\n<li>Restart your device<\/li>\n<li>Remove the <strong>publicroam<\/strong> network and reconnect<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, check:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>if your <strong>username<\/strong> and <strong>password<\/strong> are entered correctly<\/li>\n<li>if the domain is set to <strong>publicroam.nl<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>and if you have sufficient wifi range<\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"linux-distribution-without-networkmanager\" name=\"6a237afca2367\"><summary>My Linux distribution does not use NetworkManager<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Some Linux distributions use different network software than NetworkManager, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>iwd<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>manual <strong>wpa_supplicant<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>or minimal network configurations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Because of this, connecting to WPA2-Enterprise networks like Publicroam sometimes works less well.<\/p>\n<p>Check if the tool you are using has support for WPA2-enterprise. If it does, you can copy the publicroam settings and add them to the wifi profile in your tool.<\/p>\n<p>Preferably use:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>NetworkManager<\/li>\n<li>or a graphical network tool such as <strong>nm-connection-editor<\/strong> or <strong>nmtui<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul><\/div><\/details>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"markdown-document wp-block-blocknroll-markdown-document\"><h2 id=\"en-en-verbinden\">Logging in &amp; connecting<\/h2>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"waar-gebruikersnaam-wachtwoord\" name=\"6a237afca4bd0\"><summary>Where can I find my Publicroam username and password?<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>You will receive your Publicroam username and password when you create an account.<\/p>\n<p>Depending on how you signed up, you can find these details: <br><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>in the <strong>Publicroam app<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>in an <strong>sms message<\/strong> from Publicroam<\/li>\n<li>in an <strong>email<\/strong> you received from Publicroam<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Are you using the Publicroam app? Then you can find your login details via: <strong>Menu \u2192 My account \u2192 Login details<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u2139\ufe0f <em>Keep your login details safe. You will need them if you want to set up wifi manually on a device.<\/em><\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"ik-heb-geen-sms-ontvangen\" name=\"6a237afca4bd0\"><summary>I did not receive an sms with login details<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>You receive the sms with login details (username and password) immediately after requesting an account. The sender is <strong>publicroam<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Did not receive an sms? Choose from the following options:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requested via the website<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Request a <strong>new account<\/strong> via the website. Make sure to check your mobile number.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requested via sms<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Send another sms with <strong>publicroam<\/strong> to 0970 10 260 261 (or with the country code: +31 970 10 260 261).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you get a message saying an account already exists?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You can delete an existing account yourself. Send an sms with <strong>stop<\/strong> to 0970 10 260 261 (or with the country code: +31 970 10 260 261). Do this with the mobile number you used to sign up previously.<\/p>\n<p>After that, request a new account.<\/p>\n<p>If you still do not receive an sms despite these actions, please contact us via the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/support\/contact\/\">contact page<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"geen-sms-code-ontvangen\" name=\"6a237afca4bd0\"><summary>I am not receiving an sms verification code for the Publicroam app<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Are you not receiving an sms with a verification code while signing up in the Publicroam app? Please check the following.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Check your mobile number<\/strong> <br>\nCheck if your mobile number was entered correctly, including the correct country code.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Check your signal<\/strong> <br>\nMake sure you have enough mobile signal and can receive sms messages.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Check your sms messages<\/strong> <br>\nCheck: <br><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>your blocked messages folder;<\/li>\n<li>spam or unwanted messages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u2139\ufe0f <em>The verification code is sent via a normal sms message, not via WhatsApp.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>4. Request a new code<\/strong> <br>\nWait a few minutes and then request a verification code again in the app.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Restart your phone<\/strong> <br>\nSometimes it helps to restart your phone before requesting a code again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Still not working?<\/strong> <br>\nPlease contact us via the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/support\/contact\">contact page<\/a><\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"kan-niet-inloggen\" name=\"6a237afca4bd0\"><summary>I cannot log in \/ my device will not connect<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>We recommend using the Publicroam app. This will automatically set up the correct settings.<\/p>\n<p>Do you still want to set up wifi yourself? Then check the points below.<\/p>\n<p><strong>1. Do you have a Publicroam account?<\/strong> <br>\nDo you not have an account yet or have you not received login details? Please request them first.<\/p>\n<p>\u2139\ufe0f <em>Are your login details older than 48 hours and have you not successfully connected before? Then request new login details.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Check if the wifi network is visible<\/strong> <br>\nThe network <strong>publicroam<\/strong> must be visible in your device&#8217;s wifi list. Also, make sure you have enough signal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>3. Check your wifi settings<\/strong> <br>\nA typo in the settings often causes connection failures.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, check: <br><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>username and password;<\/li>\n<li>the set domain (publicroam.nl);<\/li>\n<li>the other wifi settings for your device.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4. Remove Publicroam and set it up again<\/strong> <br>\nHave you connected before? First, remove the network <strong>publicroam<\/strong> from your device and set it up again.<\/p>\n<p>\u2139\ufe0f <em>Sometimes it also helps to temporarily turn wifi off and on again or to restart your device.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>5. Still not working?<\/strong> <br>\nThere may be a malfunction or problem at the location.<\/p>\n<p>Or contact us via the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/support\/contact\/\">contact page<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"wifi-profiel-verwijderen\" name=\"6a237afca4bd0\"><summary>I want to remove the Publicroam wifi profile from my device<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p><strong>(1) Are you using the Publicroam app?<\/strong> <br>\nRemove the app from your device. The Publicroam wifi profile will then be automatically removed.<\/p>\n<p>\u2139\ufe0f <em>Are you using Android 10 or older? Then you must also remove your wifi profile manually. Go to Settings \u2192 Network &amp; Internet \u2192 Wifi \u2192 Manage known networks \u2192 select publicroam \u2192 Forget<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Chromebook \/ ChromeOS<\/strong> <br><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure you are within range of a wifi network with Publicroam<\/li>\n<li>Click on the wifi symbol in the bottom right<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Wifi<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>publicroam<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Forget<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Linux (Ubuntu \/ NetworkManager)<\/strong> <br><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Make sure you are within range of a wifi network with Publicroam<\/li>\n<li>Open Settings<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Wifi<\/strong> or <strong>Network<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Select <strong>publicroam<\/strong> from the saved networks<\/li>\n<li>Choose <strong>Forget<\/strong> or <strong>Remove<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>\u2139\ufe0f <em>The exact steps may vary depending on the Linux distribution.<\/em><\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"melding-geen-verbinding-mogelijk\" name=\"6a237afca4bd0\"><summary>I get the message: &#8216;Unable to connect to network publicroam&#8217;<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Do the following:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 1<\/strong> <br>\nCheck if the network <strong>publicroam<\/strong> is visible in your wifi overview and if the signal strength is sufficient (at least 3 bars). This message may occur more often with poor reception.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 2<\/strong> <br>\nCheck if your username and password have been entered correctly (see sms or the Publicroam app). Re-enter them and copy them exactly as shown.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 3<\/strong> <br>\nDoes the message keep appearing? Then remove the publicroam wifi profile from your device and then sign up again.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Step 4<\/strong> <br>\nCan&#8217;t figure it out? Contact us via the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/support\/contact\/\">contact page<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"gevraagd-opnieuw-gegevens-invullen\" name=\"6a237afca4bd0\"><summary>I am asked to re-enter my login details<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>Are you being asked to re-enter your login details as soon as your device wants to connect to Publicroam? Then check if you are at a location where Publicroam is available.<\/p>\n<p>Check the locations at https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/locations\/<\/p>\n<p>Important: Only re-enter your details if you have checked that you are at a location with Publicroam.<\/p>\n<p>Does this keep happening or are you in doubt? Contact us via the <a href=\"https:\/\/publicroam.net\/en\/support\/contact\/\">contact page<\/a>.<\/p><\/div><\/details>\n<details class=\"markdown-details\" id=\"waarom-inloggen-binnen-48uur\" name=\"6a237afca4bd0\"><summary>Why do I have to log in to a Publicroam location within 48 hours?<\/summary><div class=\"faq-answer\"><p>If you received your login details via sms, you must log in to a wifi network with Publicroam within 48 hours. If you do not do this, your details will be deleted and you will have to request a new Publicroam account. We do this for security reasons.<\/p>\n<p>Are you using the Publicroam app? Then this 48-hour period does not apply.
